Africa gets under your skin. You can’t quite describe it, but there’s always something that keeps it in the back of your mind.
I miss the simple life that I lived for the two months I was in Uganda. Eat, sleep, love on kids and people. Repeat. There was no question about what you would do. For me, it’s so much harder to serve others in a place where you don’t always quite believe they deserve it…you get caught up in the busy-ness of everyday life and forget that people in the US need an entirely different kind of help.
I pray that I can be fully present where I am in life right now, and serve others despite my desires to serve other countries instead. There’s a reason God has me where I am, and there’s no reason for me to question it…even if I want to.
We are so blessed by technology…because even when you’re halfway across the world from someone you love, you can still feel like they’re right there with you! All it takes it the click of a button! :)
there are two extremes of students in grad school:
1. slackers
&
2. overachievers
care to guess which category i’m in?
:)
I officially won’t see my best friend, boyfriend, partner-in-crime, and fiance for a really long time. Worst. Day. Ever.
Who makes me happy? This guy. And where is this guy headed in t-9 days? Mongolia. Will I miss him like crazy for 17 months? 110% yes. But who is so proud of him and knows he’s completely worth being alone in Dallas for 17 months? This girl. :)
Done with finals. You would think this means relaxation for a month, but no. My break will be filled with GRE studying and researching for my undergrad thesis..fun, no?
In other news, running has been put on the backburner since DWR Marathon. Finals + IT band issues have kept me from running like I want to, but hopefully a few more days off will help. That and sitting in a car for 1.5 days while driving to Florida better help.
Senior year- semester 1: done and dominated. :)
So basically what I’ve decided, is that during finals week you find every excuse not to study. And stumbling across my tumblr account is mine :)
What also helps with the “finals week blues” is taking 11pm drives to look at Christmas lights with the roommate. :) I’m from Arkansas. People go big.
What you find when you drive around random neighborhoods around Christmas :)
