Africa gets under your skin. You can’t quite describe it, but there’s always something that keeps it in the back of your mind.
I miss the simple life that I lived for the two months I was in Uganda. Eat, sleep, love on kids and people. Repeat. There was no question about what you would do. For me, it’s so much harder to serve others in a place where you don’t always quite believe they deserve it…you get caught up in the busy-ness of everyday life and forget that people in the US need an entirely different kind of help.
I pray that I can be fully present where I am in life right now, and serve others despite my desires to serve other countries instead. There’s a reason God has me where I am, and there’s no reason for me to question it…even if I want to.
